Social Justice and Service

“It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of person-kind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”
- Leo Buscaglia

First Descents

Picture
FIRST DESCENTS offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors  a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.

The Wellness Initiative

Picture
The Wellness Initiative (TWI) was founded in 2006 to provide yoga to students in Colorado and address the growing concern that students of all ages suffer from increasingly stressful and unhealthy lives. Because many of the students in our programs lack the opportunities and tools to relax, reflect, strengthen, and focus, their self confidence, physical health, and academic performance suffer. During the 2012-2013 school year, we are combating these issues by serving at least 2,500 students in 34 schools in 6 counties.

The Prison Yoga Project

Picture
Over the past several years the Prison Yoga Project has helped hundreds of incarcerated men and women transform their lives through groundbreaking yoga and mindfulness programs. We’ve sent thousands of yoga books to prisoners all over the country, free of charge. The letters of gratitude we receive from prisoners are telling. The prisoners feel better. They experience inner peace and a sense of self-worth. Their gratitude is heartfelt. They realize that someone cares.
